Breast Cancer and Prostate cancer - the Symptoms associated with it

Breast cancer is one of the most talked about cancers in modern society. It predominantly occurs in women and girls but many males also suffer from it. The causes of breast cancer are yet to be discovered but it is usually linked to certain hormonal changes which cause the different cells to become cancerous. The cause of breast cancer is somewhat related to DNA. DNA is the actual chemical which is present in our genes. These genes follow certain instructions which control the cells to grow, then divide and then die. There are certain genes that speed up the division of cells. They are called oncogenes. There are certain genes that allow slowing down the rate of cell division, and they cause the cells to die at the right time. They are known as tumor suppressor genes. There are certain changes in the genes which are known as mutation of genes in DNA which usually causes the oncogenes to “turn on” and the tumor suppressor genes to “turn off” which can cause the normal cells in the breast to become more cancerous. Breast Cancer is associated with symptoms like swelling of the breasts, itching and sore nipples, pain in the upper back region and changes in the feeling and appearance of the nipple. The causing of lumps underneath the breasts is also common symptom associated with breast cancer.

Prostate Cancer is found in men who have grown old with age. In most of the case, as the age increases the prostate glands get enlarged in men. This leads to certain problems like frequent passage of urine, facing difficulty in urination, pain during the passage of urine, increase in urine passing frequency during night time and blood with urine. These all are the cases of enlarged prostrate but are not usually cancerous in nature. The worst thing is that the prostate cancer cannot be associated with any direct symptoms. Only if the tumor is large enough to put pressure on the urethra or the tube that passes the urine you cannot feel it. In most of the cases the older men are affected by this cancer. There are certain symptoms which might be associated with prostate cancer. They are the pain caused in your hips, the back, the pelvis region and other parts of the body. In many cases the symptoms associated with prostate cancer include a sudden loss in weight and difficulty in having erection too. Whenever you face any kind of discomfort in your prostate region, it is better to go to a GP.
